Setting up

Assembly required; instructions are included. Set the shelf height before you tighten the screws.

The bench that goes where the work is.

Some jobs need a bench beside the oven, some beside the sink. This one rolls between them and locks in place.

It is a proper two-tier stainless bench, 0.8 mm stainless top and shelf on four swivel castors. Two of the castors brake, which is the difference between a trolley and a work surface. Push it into the corner for a breakfast rush, wheel it out to the deck for a function, stand it beside the slicer for a Saturday of prep.

The lower shelf screws in at three heights, so a mixer or a crate of stock sits underneath while the top stays clear. At 13 kg it moves with one hand. Loaded to its 317 kg rating, the brakes hold it still.

Goes with.

What this usually leaves the warehouse with.

Brakes that mean it.

Four swivel castors so it turns in its own length, and two of them with a brake. Set both and the bench does not creep while you chop, knead or lean on it. Release them and it rolls out of the way for the mop.

  • Rolls out of the way for cleaning

A shelf set to what you carry.

The lower shelf screws in at any of three heights. Low for stockpots and a bin of flour, high for trays and hotel pans. Both tiers are 0.8 mm stainless that wipes clean. The shelf takes 136 kg on its own, the top 181 kg.

  • Three shelf heights
  • 0.8 mm stainless on both tiers
  • 317 kg total across the bench

A bench for the day that changes.

Cafés use it as a second prep station that lives in a corner until the weekend. Caterers roll it onto a truck. Home cooks park a slicer and a mixer on it in the garage and wheel it out for a big cook. Bars use it as a back-of-house pass. It is the bench you buy when you do not yet know where the bench goes.

  • Garage and outdoor cooking set-ups

What it will carry.

Ratings are for a load spread evenly across the surface. Put the heaviest item over the legs, and set both brakes before you load it.

Sizes and options.

All three lengths share the same 600 mm depth, 850 mm height, two tiers and castors. Measure the gap you are rolling it into; the 300 mm version is a narrow slot-in stand rather than a work surface.

Questions we get asked

Do the castors lock?

Two of the four have foot brakes. Set both and the bench stays put while you work; release them and it rolls freely. All four swivel, so it turns in a tight space.

Can I fix it in place?

Set the two brakes and it stays where it is. There is no fixed-feet version of this table; for a bench that never moves, see the 1500 Prep Bench.

Is it strong enough for a slicer or a mixer?

The top is rated to 181 kg evenly loaded, which covers any bench-top appliance in the range. Put heavy equipment over a leg rather than mid-span, and brake the castors before you switch it on.

Will it fit through a doorway?

Assembled, the 900 mm bench is 600 mm deep and rolls through a standard 820 mm door without tilting. The 300 and 760 mm versions are the same depth.

How do I look after it?

Warm water and a mild detergent, wiped along the grain, then dried. Keep chlorine cleaners and steel wool off it. Check the castor bolts once a month if it moves a lot.
