Setting up

Assembly required; instructions are included. Set the shelf height before you tighten it.

The bench that takes the whole shift.

Every serious kitchen ends up with one steel bench that does everything. This is built to be that bench.

Top, shelf and legs are all stainless, so there is nothing to chip, swell or rust when the floor gets hosed. The edges are rolled rather than sharp, the rear lip stops spills reaching the wall, and the lower shelf clamps at three heights so a 20 litre stockpot fits underneath as easily as a crate of onions.

It weighs 19.6 kg assembled. Light enough to move on your own, heavy enough to stay put while you work.

Goes with.

What this usually leaves the warehouse with.

Close view of the rolled front edge and the five stainless hooks

Edges you can lean on.

The top and the shelf are both finished with a rolled edge. No sharp corner to catch a hip in a tight galley, no lip to trap a wiped-off crumb. The five stainless hooks on the end rail take tongs, cloths, a ladle or the day's prep list, and they stay out of the way of the work surface.

  • Rolled edges on top and lower shelf
  • Five stainless S-hooks on the end rail
  • Stainless top, shelf and legs
Low view along the lower shelf loaded with a stockpot and mixing bowls

A shelf that moves to the job.

The lower shelf clamps to the legs at any of three heights. Set it low for stockpots, mixers and bins. Set it high for trays and hotel pans. It is rated to 209 kg evenly loaded, so the heavy gear goes underneath and the top stays clear for prep.

  • Three shelf heights
  • Bullet-style feet for stability
  • Rear splashback with a cushioned strip that blocks spills and takes the clatter out of a busy service
The bench used as a barbecue prep station on a deck at sunset

Anywhere with a floor.

Most of these go into cafés, bakeries and restaurant kitchens. Plenty end up somewhere else: the back deck beside the barbecue, a garage as a workbench, a laundry, a home brewery, a print shop with three machines on top. Stainless does not mind any of it.

  • Commercial kitchens and prep rooms
  • Barbecue and outdoor cooking stations
  • Workshops, garages and utility rooms

What it will carry.

Ratings are for a load spread evenly across the surface. A single heavy item should sit over a leg rather than mid-span.

Questions we get asked

Does it come with wheels?

Not as standard. It ships with bullet feet. Locking castors are an option at checkout.

Can I cut directly on the top?

You can, but a board is kinder to your knives and to the finish. If the bench rocks, check that all four feet are firmly on a level floor.

Is the splashback removable?

No. The splashback is part of the top. If you need access from both sides, choose a bench without one.

Will it fit through a standard door?

Assembled, the 1524 mm bench is 610 mm deep, so it passes through an 820 mm doorway on its side. If access is tight, carry it in flat and assemble in place.

How do I look after it?

Warm water and a mild detergent, wiped along the grain, then dried. Avoid steel wool and chlorine-based cleaners, which will mark stainless over time.
